About Me

Hi, I’m Kimberly Drake, the founder of Kim Talks Blogs. This platform is more than just a blog—it’s a space where real-life experiences, faith, resilience, and healing come together to inspire and encourage others.

I was born and raised in The Bronx, New York, but life took an unexpected turn when my family lost everything in a house fire. We relocated to Jacksonville, Texas, my father’s hometown, prior to me entering high school. It was a culture shock, but I learned to adapt, find my community, and make it my own.

Growing up as the youngest of four, with a significant age gap between my siblings, I had the unique experience of being both the baby of the family and, at times, feeling like an only child. My parents were my foundation—my mother, my greatest encourager, always reminded me to validate myself, and my father instilled in me the lesson of taking life one step at a time, like following the white lines on a dark highway. Their wisdom and love carried me through some of my toughest moments.

After high school, I attended Baylor University, where I started as a Biology Pre-Med major before switching to Nursing. My passion for helping others led me into a career in healthcare, where I’ve dedicated 22 years to serving in the medical field. But life wasn’t without challenges.

I faced health struggles, including a life-threatening ulcer that left me

hospitalized, and emotional battles, from divorce to single motherhood. I’ve experienced the pain of losing both my parents within a short time, rebuilding my life after heartbreak and navigating the complexities of a blended family. Through it all, my faith was my anchor.

Kim Talks was born from this journey—my highs, my lows, and everything in between. This blog is a safe space for those who have endured grief, setbacks, and self-doubt but refuse to let those moments define them.

It’s a place to heal, grow, and embrace the ocean view of life, rather than staying trapped in a fish tank of fear and limitations.

My official blog launch is on February 22, 2025, a deeply personal date—the one-year anniversary of my father’s passing. It marks a new beginning, one where I honor my parents' legacy by sharing stories of strength, faith, and perseverance with others.

"Life isn’t a fairytale, but it’s my story to tell—one of resilience, faith, and finding purpose through pain."
